World Championships in Highland Games 2014

In June 2014, Marmelkroken had the honor of beeing the venue and organizer of the first World Championship Highland Games and Stones of Strength ever held in Norway. A total of 20 atheletes competed for three days for the right to be titled the world's best. After tough and incredibly tight matches, Johnathan Kelly from Ireland and Pieter Karst Bouma from Netherlands acheved the titles and becme world championes.

The Games were a fantastic experience, with attendance record every day. An event that really put Marmelkroken and Bø in Andøy on the map. Thanks to our sponsors, athletes, the many volunteers, villagers and the community of Andøy, without you there had not been an event. And of course we must thank the audience who came and made the World Championship in Highland Games a folk festival that will long be remembered.

 

Andoya International Highland Games 2013

The first Highland Games on Marmelkroken, was a Master competition with invited athletes. Here met six athletes from the Netherlands, Norway, United States and Japan to amicable rivalry. After seven events, was the audience favorite that Kengo Kubota, from Japan, who stood in the winner and victory on aggregate. It was also arranged workshop and competition for young local performers.
